Consumer Club

The Consumer Club spreads awareness about consumer rights, fair practices and redressal mechanisms among students and the local community.

About the Club

Working under the Department of Consumer Affairs guidelines, the Club conducts awareness sessions on the Consumer Protection Act, organises observance of National Consumer Rights Day (24 December) and World Consumer Rights Day (15 March), and trains student volunteers in basic consumer education.

Objectives
  • Educate students and the community on consumer rights and responsibilities.
  • Spread awareness about adulteration, weights and measures, and unfair trade practices.
  • Familiarise consumers with redressal forums and complaint procedures.
  • Promote informed and responsible consumption.
Activities
  • Awareness lectures on the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
  • Skits and street plays in nearby villages.
  • Observance of National Consumer Rights Day and World Consumer Rights Day.
  • Quiz and essay competitions on consumer topics.
  • Awareness drives on packaged-goods labelling and online-shopping safety.

How Students Can Engage

Interested UG students may join the Club by registering with the Coordinator. Members participate in awareness drives, prepare educational material, and represent the College in district-level competitions.
